BlackJack is both a game of skill and a game of chance.  You can reduce the blackjack "house edge" by employing what is known as "basic strategy."  Basic strategy tells you what your best play is based on both the dealer's up card and your own hand.  Sure, you have to play a hunch now and then, but blackjack basic strategy is the best way to go on average.  Basic strategy will not win all of the time, but it reduces the house edge considerably over the long run.
